Head of Speech Pathology
Senior service-building role | Bibra Lake base | NDIS, private and future aged care opportunities
Sigma Therapies is looking for a senior Speech Pathologist to establish and lead our Speech Pathology service in Perth.
This is not a standard Speech Pathologist role. Sigma does not currently have a Speech Pathology team, so this role is for someone who can help build the service properly from the beginning.
The role will include a manageable clinical caseload, service development, practical systems, referral pathway development and future team growth. Sigma supports NDIS participants and private/self-funded clients, and is also exploring aged care services.
You will be based from our Bibra Lake office, with community-based appointments across Perth and flexibility to complete administration, planning and reports from home.
About the role
This role is designed for a senior Speech Pathologist who can combine clinical work with service leadership.
Depending on your experience and the way the service develops, the role may include:
- establishing Sigma Therapies Speech Pathology as a new service area
- building practical clinical systems, templates and referral pathways
- supporting NDIS participants and private/self-funded speech pathology clients
- communication assessments and therapy
- speech, language and functional communication support
- AAC assessment, recommendation and implementation
- social communication and capacity building
- support for people with developmental, disability and neurodivergent profiles
- parent, carer and support worker coaching
- school, home and community-based intervention
- NDIS progress reports and therapy documentation
- collaboration with psychologists, PBS practitioners, OTs and support teams
- helping shape future aged care speech pathology services as Sigma develops that area
- supporting recruitment, onboarding and mentoring of future Speech Pathologists
Who this role suits
This role may suit a senior Speech Pathologist who wants:
- a founding role rather than a standard caseload-only position
- the chance to build a Speech Pathology service with clinical quality from the beginning
- a flexible community-based role with a Bibra Lake team base
- work-from-home flexibility for reports, planning and admin
- time to write quality reports and documentation
- opportunities to collaborate with OT, psychology and PBS clinicians
- future leadership, supervision and team development responsibilities
- a role that can include NDIS, private/self-funded and future aged care work
Essential requirements
You must have:
- a recognised qualification in Speech Pathology
- current Certified Practising Speech Pathologist status with Speech Pathology Australia, or ability to obtain CPSP before commencement
- experience in community, disability, paediatric, adult or mixed speech pathology practice
- interest in leadership, service development and future team mentoring
- eligibility to work in Australia
- willingness to complete required NDIS worker screening requirements
- a current driver licence and access to a reliable vehicle
Employment type
This is intended to be a senior employee role. Full-time is preferred, and 0.8 FTE may be considered for an exceptional candidate.
The role can be shaped around service establishment, clinical caseload, leadership, future supervision and collaboration with Sigma leadership.
